Happy memories

Gosh, where to begin! Lively, friendly, chatty, cheery, smiley, confident, outgoing, engaging with a great sense of humour.  I have so many fond memories of Auntie Daphne (and Uncle David) from a young age. They were frequent visitors to our home and vice versa. I  remember the holidays at Warner's holiday camps where Daphne conned the entertainment staff into giving her Dad 200 cigarettes, where we entered the fancy dress competitions and where David sang in the talent shows.

They both frequently came to the BP Club Nights my Dad organised where David sang Bless this House and The Holy City whilst my Mum, Daphne and myself watched on.

I remember the cricket in our garden and in the field next to their house, Deesden, in Ongar. I remember we visited David and Daphne one Christmas. My Dad dressed up as Father Christmas and then Dudley (sorry mate) ran off in fright at the sight of this odd character turning up at the front door with a sack of presents!. Sorry to say but I also remember the hilarious farting competitons where my Dad and David tried to outdo each other on our sofa and blamed it on our dog Patch. "He who denied it surely supplied it"! At least Daphne refrained from joining in - but I recall she laughed a lot, althogh she might have been choking!

I guess my overriding memory is that they were both just great fun to be around and in particular, I will always remember Daphne's joie de vivre!
